If the bedrock of a good life is a good spiritual life then the bedrock of a good spiritual life is prayer.
Most people find prayer to be a difficult experience. There are times when it is easy but quite often there are so many distractions in life that we are easily persuaded to spend the time in what we believe will be a more productive way. How wrong we are.
Our first aim is to make sure that we are spending some time praying every day.
When do you want to pray?
- When do you have time that you could spend praying? If you don't have time when could you make some time?
- What would be the minimum amount of time and the maximum amount of time you could set aside?
- If you were to set aside the maximum amount of time how committed on a scale of 1 to 10 (where 1 is not a chance and 10 is "step aside I'm doing it right now!") would you be to this task?
- If you did not answer 10 what length of time would bring you to a 10?
Now you need to write down for yourself a commitment to do this. |
